Complete nutrient complex for use with sugar fermentation systems up to 20% ABV.

Product Description and Function

A complete nutrient complex consisting of urea-based macro and micro nutrients ideal for fermentation of any sugar based feed-stock such as 95DE glucose sugar syrup, pure sucrose or other fermentable substrates such as molasses, thick sugar juice etc. Complete Nutrient is suitable for use in potable / beverage or fuel ethanol applications.

Complete Nutrient can be used at different dosages according to the required application, such as fermentation up to 10, 15 or 20% ABV. This product is suitable for applications were high alcohol and/or temperature tolerance is required, providing it is used in conjunction with a suitable yeast strain (such as SPL Ethanol TT Yeast).

This product contains only pure, fully chemically defined ingredients and does not contain yeast extract or other non-chemically defined nutrients which can taint the quality of beverage alcohol. Complete Nutrient includes fermentation activators to ensure rapid start to fermentation to reduce the potential for bacterial spoilage.

Dosage and Application

Add Turbo Yeast Nutrient directly into the fermentation vessel providing the vessel has mixing facility. If the fermentation vessel has no mixing facility then add to 10 times its weight of cold water, mix for 10 minutes then add into the substrate solution.

Nutritional requirement will vary depending upon substrate, but as a guide recommended dosages for nutritionally deficient sugar substrate applications are as follows:

  • 1.3kg/1000L for fermentation to 10% ABV
  • 2.2kg/1000L for fermentation up to 15% ABV
  • 3.5kg/1000L for fermentation up to 20% ABV

Note that fermentation rate, temperature tolerance and high ethanol ceiling will depend upon strain and pitch rate of yeast. For higher alcohol levels a specialist yeast strains such as SPL Ethanol TT Yeast is required.

Product Description and Function

Trace Nutrient is the only fully chemically defined pure Trace Nutrient to provide all essential food-grade vitamins and trace minerals required for optimal yeast performance within fermentation systems. Trace Nutrient has two advantages over traditionally used yeast extract, most importantly trace nutrient confers no flavour or aroma to the alcoholic beverage and provides uniform trace nutritional load to ensure consistent fermentation performance batch to batch.

Addition during propagation stages (if used) and main fermentation will remove nutritional stress allowing higher fermentable ethanol ceilings to be achieved up to 22% v.v. ethanol and reduced congener production by the yeast cells.

The importance of yeast nutrition has often been over-looked by the fermentation industry especially when substrates based on pure sugar are used – its relevance to bacterial spoilage, rate of yeast budding, fermentable ethanol ceiling, residual sugar concentration and specific rate of fermentation being poorly understood. SPL would consider itself market leaders in this field.

Addition of Trace Nutrient to the propagator and main fermenter will guarantee trace nutritional sufficiency (not to be confused with Macronutrition requirements) to ensure reproducible fermentation performance irrespective of variable nutritional load from the initial substrate material.

Dosage and Application

For addition to any propagation or main fermentation derived from Sugar (excluding molasses) or starch substrates.

Dosage:
To Propagator – 16g per 100 litres
To main fermenter – 4g per 100 litres

Add dry Trace Nutrient powder direct to the fermenter or pre-mix with 30°C water into a 5% solution before addition.

SPL Complete Wine Nutrient is a complete and chemically defined yeast nutritional system especially designed for rapid, complete, and for trouble-free fermentation. This product provides all macro and micro nutrients essential for yeast fermentation in a highly assimilable form, including nitrogen (from urea), phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, and all essential vitamins and trace minerals from pure, chemical forms.

This product has a particularly useful application in wine where the fruit content is low.

Dosage and Application

Add Complete Wine Nutrient to 10 times its weight of warm water (30-40ºC), mix for 5 minutes then add to the wine must in fermentation vessel and mix well.

Nutritional requirement will vary depending upon juice / must formulation, but as a guide recommended dosages are 500g/1000L for 10% ABV and 800g/1000L for up to 14% ABV.

SPL Complete Cider Nutrient is a complete and chemically defined nutritional system based on diammonium phosphate and optimised for trouble-free fermentation of all styles of cider.

This product provides all macro and micro nutrients essential for yeast fermentation in a highly assimilable form, including nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, and essential vitamins and trace minerals from pure, chemical forms as well as yeast extract.

Dosage and Application

SPL Complete Cider Nutrient can be added directly into the fermentation vessel providing the vessel has a mixing facility.

If the fermentation vessel has no mixing facility then add Complete Cider Nutrient to 10 times its weight of warm water (30-40ºC), mix for 5 minutes then add into the substrate solution.

Nutritional requirement will vary depending upon juice/must formulation, but as a guide recommended dosages are 300g per 1000L for 7% ABV or 600g per 1000L for 13% ABV.

Dosage and Application

For use with any starch or sugar substrate material for the fermentation of ethanol.

Dosage is dependant upon the assimilatable nitrogen and phosphorus contents of the starch or sugar substrate material, the required fermentation time and ethanol ceiling.  Nutritional requirements should be tailored on a case by case basis to determine the most cost effective nutritional solution appropriate to the specific application.

Dissolve diammonium phosphate direct with 300C water into a 10% solution before pumping.
